Carson Wentz's Biography

Carson James Wentz is a professional American football player, born on 30th December 1992. He is currently playing as a quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Wentz relocated to North Dakota with his family when he was just three years old. He exhibited his sporting abilities from an early age by engaging in various sports activities during his high school years at Century High School in Bismarck, such as football, basketball, and baseball. One of the game-changing decisions in his life was to quit playing ice hockey, a sport he loved and was introduced to by his brother, and instead focus on basketball.

During his freshman year, Wentz was relatively small with a height of 5ft 8in. However, by the time he was in his senior year, he had grown to a towering height of 6ft 5in. He turned out to be not only a sporting prodigy but also an exceptional academic scholar, having graduated as the valedictorian of his class in 2011.

Following high school, Wentz attended North Dakota State where he played college football for the North Dakota State Bison. He donned the No.11 shirt and won two consecutive NCAA FCS national championships as the starting quarterback. After his redshirt freshman year in 2012, Wentz slowly started coming into his own, showing what he could offer on the field. Even though he was the backup quarterback initially, Wentz went from a sophomore to the starting quarterback of the Bison during his junior year in 2014.

His impressive performances led to the Bison recording a 15-1 record in 2014. The highlight of that year was the national championship game against the Illinois State Redbirds where Wentz passed for 287 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 87 yards. This astonishing performance led NDSU to win their fourth consecutive NCAA Division I Football Championship game.

During the 2016 NFL draft, to the surprise of many, Wentz was selected second overall by the Philadelphia Eagles, which categorized him as the highest-drafted FCS player ever. His most successful stint with the Eagles was in 2017 when he led the team to an impressive 11-2 record. Despite suffering a season-ending injury, it was his solid start that put the Eagles in a position to win the Super Bowl LII, which was the first in the franchise’s history.

However, his journey with the Philadelphia Eagles wasn’t always smooth sailing. Although he did help carry the Eagles back into the playoffs during the next two seasons, repeated injuries limited his playtime and affected his performance. Therefore, after losing his starting position due to a decrease in productivity, Wentz was traded away to the Indianapolis Colts and then to the Washington Commanders. However, similar to his final days with the Eagles, Wentz struggled with maintaining consistency and inked his way out of the starting role.

Subsequently, he joined the Los Angeles Rams halfway through the 2023 season as a backup before moving forward with the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2024 season. Throughout these periods of transition and adjustment, Wentz showed his grit and determination to persevere and continually strive to prove himself as one of the finest quarterbacks in the league.

On a personal note, Carson Wentz graduated from North Dakota State with a degree in health and physical education, garnering a perfect 4.0 GPA and twice winning the College Sports Information Directors of America’s Academic All-American recognition for Division I football and all Division I sports. This academic accomplishment alongside his professional career serves as a testament to his commitment, hard work, and talent.

Through ups and downs, injuries, and team swaps – Wentz has consistently demonstrated his sportsmanship, determination, and leadership. His journey from a small, keen freshman to an internationally recognized sporting figure is a narrative of perseverance, passion, and talent.
