Austin Schlottmann

Austin Schlottmann, a Texas-born football star, was born on September 18, 1995. His journey in the NFL began with the Denver Broncos and has seen him play for the Minnesota Vikings and presently for the New York Giants. Before his NFL journey, Schlottmann built a reputation for his football prowess as an All-State honoree in his home town at Brenham High School, Texas.

His early passion for football became evident at Brenham High School, where he aided his team, the Cubs, in reaching the Class 4A Championship game at the famous AT&T Stadium in 2013, which resulted in him earning All-State honors. Expanding his horizons beyond his hometown, Schlottmann made a crucial life decision on February 5, 2014, when he signed a national letter of intent to further his career in the highly competitive American football scene at Texas Christian University.

Upon enrolling at TCU in the summer of 2014, Schlottmann played in all 13 games of that fall, showing his skills as a true freshman. During that season, TCU won a Big 12 Conference championship and finished third in final polls, following a 42–3 victory over Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl. Schlottmann continued his football journey at TCU, starting 29 games over three seasons and earning second-team All-Big 12 as a junior in 2016.

After going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, Schlottmann’s career took a significant turn. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos, reuniting him with his high-school teammate and long-time friend Courtland Sutton. Schlottmann spent the 2018 season on the Broncos’ practice squad, honing his skills and gaining experience.

In 2019, Schlottmann’s hard work paid off when he made the Broncos’ active roster as the second-string left guard as the training camp ended. Schlottmann made his regular-season debut on September 9, 2019, against the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football. His role increased significantly in Week 14 when he was named the starting right guard following the sidelining of Ronald Leary. Subsequently, second-string right guard Elijah Wilkinson shifted to right tackle, replacing starting RT Ja’Wuan James, who was dealing with a knee injury.

The 2021 season brought in a new chapter in Schlottmann’s career. After being waived by the Broncos, he was re-signed to the practice squad the next day. He later got promoted to the active roster on November 9th. Building on his reputation as an exceptional player, Schlottmann signed with the Minnesota Vikings on March 16, 2022. Due to a left fibula fracture, he spent some time on injured reserve starting from January 3, 2023. However, he made a comeback, re-signing with the Vikings on March 17, 2023.

On March 15, 2024, he was signed to a two-year deal with the New York Giants, a remunerative progression in his career. He was faced with an injury setback, being placed on injured reserve on August 27. Despite these challenges, Austin Schlottmann, born in the small town of Brenham, Texas, has carved a remarkable career path in the highly competitive national American football landscape.
