Christian Blake Proehl’s multifaceted personality reflects the athletic and artistic prowess that have defined his professional life so far. Not only is he recognized for his exceptional skills on the football field, but he is also emerging as a talented music recording artist. A devotee of both football and music since his early years, his life and career is an inspiring chronicle of growth, resilience, and triumph.

Born on January 12, 1999, in Greensboro, North Carolina, Christian had most of his formative years in Charlotte, where his family relocated during his childhood. This southern city was also where allowed his athletic talents to flourish at Providence High School. With a keen interest in football from a young age and a drive to excel, he emerged as a promising talent, catching 52 passes for an impressive 1,016 yards and 12 touchdowns in his senior year. His exemplary performance earned him a spot on the first-team All-SoMeck 8 Conference, marking a significant milestone in his emerging football career.

Following high school, Christian devoted the next four years to building his sports career at East Carolina University. Frequently seen in the Pirates’ lineup, he became a cornerstone for the team. His freshman year, however, was marked by an unfortunate medical redshirt due to a season-ending injury incurred at the beginning of preseason training camp. Despite this, Christian’s determination remained undeterred as he recovered and returned to the field for his junior season.

As a junior, he managed to secure an impressive record of catching 47 passes for 577 yards, coupled with four touchdowns. Just one year short of completing his study, he decided to make a significant career move, forgoing his senior season and throwing his hat into the ring for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Shortly after the conclusion of the draft, he received an offer to join the Minnesota Vikings – an opportunity he promptly took up. Though his journey with the Vikings was not smooth sailing— he was waived due to an injury on August 16th and placed in an injured reserve—Proehl was resilient in making a comeback. The following season, he ultimately found himself on the team’s reserve list. He was activated on October 17th, which, however, turned out to be short-lived as he was waived and re-signed to the practice team. Despite his wavering football career, he still inspired many with his unwavering determination.

Setting the football field aside, Christian turned to music as a form of solace during his 2021 knee injury’s rehabilitation phase. This period unexpectedly reignited his passion for music, propelling his music career when a video of him singing to his grandma went viral. In March 2022, he announced his first single release, ‘Falling Into You.’ It was a collaborative effort with a group of budding songwriters, including Rachel Grae, Spencer Hendricks, Kaitlin Stark, Parkwild’s Austin Zudeck and Justin Thunstrom, who also produced the track.

Christian’s vocal talent landed him a spot in the 22nd season of American Idol. His audition was aired on February 18, 2024, where he successfully advanced to the Hollywood rounds. He continued his run through to the Top 24, performing Justin Bieber’s ‘Anyone’ before being eliminated from the Top 20.

Born to an NFL veteran, Christian shares a deep connection with football with his father, Ricky Proehl, who had graced the NFL fields for 17 seasons. His brother, Austin, followed in their father’s footsteps, having played for the New York Giants until August 16, 2022.
