Cam Akers

Cam Akers is an American football running back whose NFL career began with the Los Angeles Rams, who selected him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Born on June 22, 1999, in Jackson, Mississippi, Akers attended Clinton High School and became a nationally recognized recruit after starring as a dual-threat quarterback. He later played college football at Florida State, where he developed into one of the Seminoles’ leading offensive players and earned second-team All-ACC recognition as a junior.

Listed at 5 feet 10 inches and 217 pounds, Akers entered the NFL with a powerful, compact running style. Draft evaluations highlighted his vision, balance, body control, quick cuts and ability to create after contact. He has also been viewed as a versatile back who can contribute in the passing game. During his early Rams tenure, he became an important part of the team’s offense and produced notable postseason performances, including a strong playoff debut as a rookie.

After leaving Los Angeles, Akers continued his career with the Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints before joining the Seattle Seahawks on a reserve/futures contract in February 2026. Seattle released him on April 27, 2026, and the team’s official transaction record does not identify a subsequent signing. As of September 21, 2026, he should therefore be described as a free agent rather than as a current member of the Rams, Seahawks or another NFL team.
