Born April 14, 1995, in Austin, Texas, Mayfield played quarterback at Lake Travis High School before beginning his college career as a walk-on at Texas Tech. Mayfield won the 2017 Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma and became the first overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, chosen by the Cleveland Browns.
