Jaylen Martin's Biography

Jaylen Martin, an exceptionally gifted professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA), was born on the 28th of January, 2004. His basketball career, however, extends further, as he also boasts a two-way contract with the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League.

Jaylen’s athletic journey was cemented from a young age as he honed his basketball skills at Florida State University High School in Tallahassee, Florida. Charlie Ward, a former NBA player and the head coach at Florida State University High School at the time, took a keen interest in young Martin’s promising talent.

Graduating high school, Martin established himself as a highly esteemed recruit in the Class of 2022. Much of this prestige was due to the exceptional performance he exhibited while in high school. Both ESPN and 247Sports recognized Martin as a 4-star recruit earning him much recognition and acclaim in the sports community.

Despite the flood of collegiate offers from multiple universities including Florida, Georgia, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, and Ole Miss, Martin decided to venture into a professional career. He committed to play in the Overtime Elite league, showing immense promise and focus from the onset.

Martin kicked off his professional career by joining the YNG Dreamerz of the Overtime Elite league. His competitive nature and unwavering commitment to the game garnered him a substantial amount of respect among his peers. He managed to secure a second-place spot in the Overtime Elite’s Most Improved Player voting and piloted the Dreamerz to the league Championship series, eventually losing to the City Reapers in what proved to be a tightly contested match.

Following the 2023 NBA draft in which Martin unfortunately went undrafted, he remained undeterred and signed a two-way contract with the New York Knicks on July 3, 2023. However, in a surprising turn of events, the Knicks waived him on October 18.

Departure from the Knicks didn’t spell the end for Martin. On November 9, he was inducted into the opening night roster for the Westchester Knicks and later, on November 27, he signed another two-way contract with New York. However, this stint was short-lived as he was waived on December 23, without having a run on the court for the Knicks. True to his resilient spirit, Martin returned to Westchester just three days later.

In 2024, Martin’s career took a significant turn when on February 21, he undertook a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets.
