D'Angelo Russell

D’Angelo Russell is an American professional basketball player currently with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was drafted second overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers and has since gone on to become one of the league’s most dynamic guards. Born February 23rd 1996, D’Angelo is a 6 foot 5 guard from Louisville Kentucky and attended Montverde Academy in Florida before deciding to forgo college and declare for the NBA draft.

Throughout his collegiate career, Russell showed glimpses of greatness; averaging 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game during his high school senior year alone. His talent earned him a McDonald’s All-American selection as well as Mr Basketball USA honors in 2014/15 season . During this same time he was also named MVP of both Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) circuit as well as Jordan Brand Classic game where he dropped 25 points to win it all.

Upon entering into pro ball at 19 years old, there were many questions surrounding whether or not D’Angelo would be able to deliver once put under pressure against seasoned veterans already established within the league. After being selected by Los Angeles Lakers with their 2nd pick he made sure that nobody questioned his ability any longer putting up 13 PPG , 3APG & 3RPG over 28 MPG throughout his rookie season whilst winning NBS Western Conference Rookie of The Year Award along side Karl Anthony Towns who won Eastern counterpart award .

After spending two seasons with LA lakers Russell made headlines when traded off alongside Timofey Mozgov for Brook Lopez & 27th pick which turned out ” Kyle Kuzma” who later developed into star himself . He then spent two seasons with Brooklyn Nets where averaged 15PPG & 5APG respectively leading them back into playoffs after few years absence but unfortunately losing out on semi finals round 4 – 1 versus Philadelphia 76ers in 2019

Following 2018/19 season, reports surfaced that Russell had signed a 4 year $117 million deal with Golden State Warriors just before free agency official began however due to subsequent changes within organisation due injuries etc this move never materialised leaving him without team until shortly before start of 2019/20 season when Minnesota Timberwolves acquired 26 year old guard via sign-and-trade agreement from Brooklyn Nets making him part cornerstone rebuild project going forward looking towards brighter future still ahead
