BIOGRAPHY
Sijara Eubanks is an American mixed martial artist and professional wrestler from New York City, New York. She competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight division. She is also the former Invicta FC flyweight champion.
At the age of seven, Eubanks began training in Tae Kwon Do with her father which then sparked her interest in martial arts. In high school she was a member of the wrestling team, where she then went on to compete at Division I college level for University of Tennessee Martin before transferring to Rutgers University and graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice.
Eubanks made her amateur debut at Ring Of Combat 46: Tribute To The Troops back in 2012 where she won by unanimous decision against Diana Rojas-Dominguez. After going 4–1 as an amateur fighter, she made her professional debut at Bellator 91 earlier than expected due to an injury suffered by Deanna Bennett during their scheduled fight – this allowed Sijara to make quick work out of Jessica Borga as Sijara ended up winning via armbar submission within just one round! She finished with a 2-2 record when competing for Bellator MMA before signing with Invicta FC late 2014 for whom she would go on undefeated streak up until 2018 when Sarah Kaufman beat Sijara via split decision at Invicta FC 31: Jandiroba vs Morandin event which marked end of her flyweight title reign there; however it did not stop here – next year after signing UFC contract shortly prior 2019 UFC Brooklyn event that included then Flyweight Title match between Nicco Montano and Valentina Shevchenko – Eubanks got called as replacement opponent where only few days prior weigh ins something happened leading Nicco dropping out due to health issues causing massive disappointment amongst fans wanting witness Women’s Flyweight Championship being awarded on that night; hence UFC officials decided promote 3rd ranked contender – Roxanne Modafferi who already had been knocked out by Eubanks back 2017 during semi finals bout Ultimate Fighter 26 tournament – over 6th ranked Sarija resulting initial winless appearance inside Octagon yet still providing real chance become inaugural female champion its 135lb division thus setting another milestone soon be followed joining championship ranks herself fighting Julia Avila October 2020 eventually succeeding latter claiming victory first round armbar submission awarding title first ever African American Female World Champion realm Mixed Martial Arts…
