Luana “Dread”Carolina

Luana Carolina is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist, kickboxer and Muay Thai fighter who is currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s strawweight division. She made her professional debut in 2016 and has since gone undefeated with seven wins from seven fights.

Born on December 15, 1992 in Manaus, Brazil, Luana Carolina had an early interest in MMA and began training at the age of thirteen. She trained extensively for several years before making her amateur debut at the age of seventeen. After winning four out of six amateur bouts she decided to go pro at nineteen and was signed by Aspera Fighting Championship (AFC).

In her debut fight against Vanessa Melo at AFC 46: Rio de Janeiro she won via unanimous decision after three rounds and went on to become the organization’s strawweight champion. Her next two fights were also victories leading up to her UFC contract being signed on October 16th 2018 where despite being relatively unknown she made a huge impression with an impressive first round TKO victory over Yanan Wu at UFC Fight Night 142 after just 28 seconds into the match.

Following that win Luana earned herself a performance bonus for ‘Fight of The Night’ as well as another TKO victory against Priscila Cachoeira during their bout at UFC 237 when referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the fight just forty-eight seconds into Round One due to Cachoeira suffering numerous strikes from Carolina causing significant damage leaving him no choice but to stop it prematurely which earned them both ‘Performance Bonus Awards’ for ‘The Fight Of The Night’.
