BIOGRAPHY

Katlyn “Blonde Fighter” Cerminara, better known as Katlyn Chookagian, is an American professional mixed martial artist, born on December 28, 1988, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, United States. She has made a name for herself in the world of UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fighting as part of the women’s Flyweight division.

Chookagian graduated from Quakertown Community High School before attending Fairleigh Dickinson University where she achieved a degree in special education. Despite her passion for education, Chookagian found her real calling in sports, specifically in martial arts. As well as being an experienced fighter, Chookagian also possesses a black belt in Karate and a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu proving her well-rounded fighting abilities.

Initially, Chookagian started her martial arts career at the age of 4, receiving her first-degree black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate at the age of 9. She later began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and boxing, which led to her interest in mixed martial arts.

Her professional MMA career began in 2014 at the age of 25. She quickly made an impression in the fight scene, winning her first fights in the cage which resulted in a string of victories. These early triumphs helped her rise to prominence early on in her career.

Chookagian joined the UFC in 2016 and quickly established her presence there. In her debut UFC fight, she achieved a victory over Lauren Murphy by Unanimous Decision in July 2016. Over her career, Chookagian has been predominantly known for her striking ability, using her impressive range and boxing skills to stand toe-to-toe with the most formidable competitors in the division.

In February 2020, Chookagian had the opportunity to apply her skills at the highest level when she competed against Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship. Despite losing the fight, she continued to make an impact in the world of MMA.

By 2021, Chookagian had compiled an impressive record of 15 wins and 4 losses, which includes wins over prominent fighters like Joanne Calderwood and Jennifer Maia. Her fighting style, which seamlessly combines striking and grappling, has made her a respected figure in MMA.

Outside of her fighting career, she leads a balanced life with a passion for fitness and health. She is married to Kyle Cerminara, a former All-American wrestler and coach, and has a daughter with him.

Chookagian continues to inspire many aspiring female fighters with her determination, resilience, and skills. Her journey from a karate kid to a top-ranked UFC fighter is a testament not only to her exceptional abilities as a fighter but also to her sportsmanship, undying spirit, and relentless pursuit of her dreams.
