BIOGRAPHY

Colby Covington is a professional mixed martial artist and the current UFC Interim Welterweight Champion. He is known for his aggressive in-cage style, winning over fans with his entertaining fights and trash talking.

Covington was born in October of 1988 in Clovis, California. Growing up, he had an interest in martial arts from a young age as he trained at various local dojos throughout high school before graduating from Ohio State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. After college, Covington moved to Florida where he began training full time under former UFC fighter American Top Team (ATT).

He made his professional debut in 2012 and quickly rose through the ranks of the welterweight division thanks to some dominant victories over well-known opponents such as War Machine and Mike Pyle. In 2017 Covington solidified himself as one of the best fighters by earning an impressive victory against perennial contender Demian Maia that earned him both Fight of the Night honors along with Performance of The Night bonus awards.

His career continued to take off following this win; eventually culminating into him capturing championship gold when he won by unanimous decision against Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 on June 9th 2018 – making Colby Covington the interim welterweight champion alongside being named MMAFighting’s Fighter Of The Year for 2018. Since then he has gone on to defend this title against Robbie Lawler at UFC on ESPN 5 which saw him retain his belt after another highly contested bout that earned first round stoppage victory via TKO doctor stoppage due to cuts suffered by Lawler during their fight earlier last year August 2019..
As well as competing inside cage, Colby has also become known for stirring up controversy through trash talk often directed towards other fighters or even celebrities outside world MMA circles. This type behavior coupled together with near perfect record inside octagon have helped make Colby one biggest stars game today despite only having been active few years thus far professional career stand out among many others fighting sport today!
