BIOGRAPHY

Dustin Poirier is a professional mixed martial artist and current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) competitor. He began his MMA career in 2009, fighting primarily in Louisiana-based promotions. After quickly making a name for himself with devastating knockouts, he was signed by the UFC in 2011.

Since then, Poirier has gone on to amass an impressive 25 victories and become one of the top contenders in the lightweight division. His skill set is versatile – he can win fights through knockout power or submission grappling prowess. He holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo, as well as training extensively in boxing and Muay Thai kickboxing.

Poirier’s most notable accomplishments include winning the interim UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 236 against Max Holloway, defeating former featherweight champion Conor McGregor at UFC 257, finishing Eddie Alvarez with a technical knockout at Fight Night 57 (which earned him “Performance of the Night” honors), picking up three consecutive wins over Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje and Eddie Alvarez (earning him “Fight of the Night” honors for each bout). Additionally he defeated Jim Miller by unanimous decision to earn his first ever “Fight of The Night” award back in 2012.

In 2016 he made headlines when he donated $10K to help victims affected by flooding that had struck his hometown of Lafayette following torrential rainstorms that caused severe damage throughout South Louisiana two years earlier. His charitable work did not stop there – since then Poirier has continued to give back to those less fortunate than himself on multiple occasions such as donating 50 tickets for people effected by Hurricane Harvey last year or providing funding for an orphanage based out if Haiti called Fondation Enfant Jesus de la Paix Children’s Home this past summer which provides educational opportunities & housing costs and more recently creating The Good Fight Foundation which raises money directly benefiting members of both military & service personnel families who need monetary aid during difficult times due to Covid 19 .

Outside of competition Dustin spends time with his wife Jolie , daughter Parker , son Rocco & new born Ashelyn . He also enjoys hunting , fishing & playing golf with friends . To stay active between fight camps Dustin does CrossFit workouts while also spending time coaching youth football teams around Lafayette LA where they live now after moving down from Connecticut six years ago .

Since bursting onto the scene nearly ten years ago Dustin Poirier has become one of MMA’s biggest stars thanks largely due to his medical ability inside octagon but also because off all good work outside it doing things like dedicating time fundraising efforts towards disaster relief programs & creating foundations aimed helping less fortune individuals within communities across America continue chasing their dreams no matter any circumstance life throws their way .
