BIOGRAPHY
Trevon Wesco, born on September 12, 1995, is a noteworthy American professional football player known for his tenure in the National Football League (NFL). His positions on field are versatile, predominantly a tight end, with usage as a fullback from time to time. Over the years, Wesco has played for distinguished teams, including the New York Jets, the Chicago Bears, the Tennessee Titans, and most recently, the Las Vegas Raiders.
Wesco’s journey to the NFL began in college, where he showcased his skills on the field at Lackawanna College and later at West Virginia. His raw talent and potential were noticed, leading to his drafting by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft. This marked the start of his professional career in football.
As a rookie for the Jets, Wesco was primarily used as a fullback. The team capitalized on his versatile skill set by also employing him occasionally as a tight end. However, his debut season was not without its challenges. On November 9, 2020, health-related issues plagued Wesco, landing him on the injured reserve. Perseverance, however, is a key trait of any successful athlete, and Wesco was no exception. Undeterred, he strived to recover, becoming active again on December 12, 2020.
Upon entering the 2021 NFL season, Wesco was positioned as a third-string tight end on the Jets roster, behind Ryan Griffin and Tyler Kroft. Close to the end of the season, in Week 16, Wesco had an unfortunate knee injury which led to his placement on the injured reserve on December 27. Despite these challenges, he made significant contributions during the season, with three catches for 35 yards, albeit without any touchdowns. He played 12 games, starting seven of them.
On August 30, 2022, however, Wesco’s journey with the Jets came to an end. He was released as part of the team’s roster cuts. Despite this setback, Wesco didn’t stay a free agent for long. The very next day, on August 31, 2022, he was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bears.
Wesco’s time with the Bears was short-lived. On March 31, 2023, he entered into a one-year agreement with the Tennessee Titans. Although he moved between teams over the years, Wesco’s commitment to the sport remained unshakeable.
His next transition took him to the Las Vegas Raiders. Wesco was signed to the Raiders’ practice squad on October 22, 2024. Even as a practice player, Wesco’s spirit remained undeterred. He continues to devote himself to the game that has been an integral part of his life for many years.
Despite the highs and lows of his career, Trevon Wesco’s dedication to football remains uncompromised. His journey through various teams in the NFL underscores his adaptability and perseverance, traits that will likely see him continue to navigate the ups and downs of the professional football landscape.
