Miles Battle's Biography

Miles Christopher Battle was born on the 4th of January, 2000 in Houston, Texas, where he began his journey in football that would eventually lead him to the National Football League (NFL). From being a four-star recruit in high school to a professional cornerback for the New England Patriots, Battle’s career in football is anything but ordinary.

As a child, Battle thrived in the bustling city of Houston. His skills in both football and basketball were honed during his high school years at Cypress Creek High School. There, he exhibited exceptional prowess as a wide receiver, completing 140 receptions for 2,036 yards and 29 touchdowns. With his average play yielding 14.5 yards per game, he summed up a total of 2,426 all-purpose yards within just his tenure at Cypress Creek High.

Initially, Battle set his sights on the University of Oregon to pursue his college football career. However, a change of heart led him to commit to the University of Mississippi, where he became part of the esteemed Ole Miss Rebels.

In his true freshman season in 2018, Battle appeared in just four games due to being redshirted. His statistics back then were modest, with two receptions for 18 yards, producing an average of 9.0 yards per game. Even as he contemplated transferring after the season, he ultimately decided to stay on.

The following year, Battle continued to make strides. As a wide receiver, he took part in 10 games and ended the season with an average of 10.0 yards per game. The year 2020 marked a significant shift in Battle’s career as he transitioned from being a wide receiver to a defensive back. Despite the challenges, he managed to complete the season with six solo tackles and four pass breakups.

In 2021, Battle’s growth as a defensive back was evident. Out of the 13 games he participated in, he started one as a cornerback, finishing with three receptions for 22 yards. More importantly, he made 22 total tackles (nine solo and 13 assisted), intercepted a pass for nine yards, broke up eight passes, and recovered a fumble.

He continued this positive trajectory into the 2022 season, starting three out of 13 games at cornerback. His impressive stats for the season included 38 total tackles (24 solo and 14 assisted), one interception, four pass breakups, and a forced fumble.

Midway through August 2022, Battle would again enter the transfer portal. By the year’s end, he would announce his transfer to Utah, joining the Utah Utes for the 2023 season. Where he started two out of 13 games at cornerback, ended the season with an interception and three pass breakups while making 32 total tackles.

Battle then took a leap of faith by declaring for the 2024 NFL draft on December 27, 2023. Despite not being drafted, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs after the draft. In the same year, the San Antonio Brahmas chose him in the fourth round of the 2024 UFL draft. However, he was eventually waived on August 26, 2024.

His journey took a turn when the New England Patriots offered him a spot on their practice squad on October 15, 2024. That marked his conclusion in the transfer market and the start of his professional football journey. Described by many as a tenacious and hardworking player, Battle’s transition from a high school gridiron star to a professional football cornerback is indeed worth celebrating and lends an inspiring legacy for ambitious young footballers everywhere.
