Antonio Gibson

Antonio Gibson is an NFL running back and return specialist born June 23, 1998, in Georgia. He attended Eagle’s Landing High School, played football, basketball and track, and later began his college career at East Central Community College before transferring to Memphis. At Memphis, Gibson developed into a versatile offensive player who contributed as a receiver, runner and kick returner. He was named the American Athletic Conference’s 2019 Special Teams Player of the Year and earned first-team all-conference recognition as a kick returner.

Washington selected Gibson in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 66th overall pick. He transitioned primarily to running back in the NFL while retaining value as a receiver and returner. His early professional career included a strong rookie campaign and a 2021 season in which he reached a major rushing milestone and received first-team All-Conference recognition from the Pro Football Writers of America. Gibson’s playing style has been characterized by acceleration, open-field ability, tackle-breaking potential and the versatility to line up in multiple offensive roles.

Gibson signed with the New England Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on March 14, 2024, and played for the club during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. The Patriots released him on February 23, 2026; therefore, as of October 1, 2026, he should be described as a free agent rather than a current Patriots player. His 2025 season included an AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor, but the Patriots’ release announcement also noted that he had been limited by an injury that season.
