Joe Cardona Bio
Joe Cardona is an NFL long snapper for the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams signed him to a two-year contract on March 11, 2026, and he is listed on the team’s active roster as No. 49. Cardona is 6-foot-2 and attended the United States Naval Academy, where he played long snapper and majored in economics.
The New England Patriots selected Cardona in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft with the 166th overall pick. He spent his first 10 NFL seasons in New England, won Super Bowl LI and Super Bowl LIII with the Patriots, and later played for the Miami Dolphins during the 2025 season before joining Los Angeles. His professional career has been defined by specialized snapping work, consistency and long-term availability at a position that requires precision on every kick and punt.
Cardona has also maintained a military career. He was commissioned as a Navy officer after graduating from the Naval Academy and has served in the Navy Reserve. The NFL named him the recipient of the 2023 Salute to Service Award for his continued military service and support of service members, veterans and military families. In August 2026, Rams teammates selected Joe Cardona as one of the team’s captains.
