BIOGRAPHY
McTelvin Obinna Agim—widely recognized as an outstanding professional American football player—was born on September 25, 1997, in the United States. His athletic journey began in Rowlett, Texas, where he spent his freshman years at Rowlett High School before transferring to Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas. Despite the transition, Agim’s performance on the field remained consistently exceptional. He was such a standout player that he was named Arkansas’s top-rated player for the class of 2016, an accolade that only increased his popularity among college recruiters.
As a result of this success, Agim was offered full-ride scholarships from many top-tier schools, including Baylor, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M. However, on September 9, 2015, he chose to attend the University of Arkansas and play for the Razorbacks. Here, he continued his commendable gridiron record, accumulating accolades and commendations due to his impressive performances. In recognition of his performance, he was named Gatorade Arkansas Player of the Year and was also named a USA Today All-American.
During his first college season, Agim was a defensive end and managed to crack the starting lineup. As his college career advanced, he showed his versatility on the field by rotating between defensive end and defensive tackle. Despite these changes, Agim did not disappoint and played in all 12 games of his junior year. However, after his junior season, the coaching staff considered shifting his position from defensive end to defensive tackle permanently— a change that Agim embraced.
Agim’s collegiate career culminated with his senior season, where he stood out among his peers. His performance earned him a position in the roster for the 2020 Senior Bowl. He was also invited to participate in the East-West Shrine Game and the 2020 NFL Combine, where he showcased his skills in front of a wider audience, including the Denver Broncos scouts.
In the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Agim with the 95th overall pick, a selection obtained from a previous trade involving Emmanuel Sanders and the San Francisco 49ers. Agim chose number 95 as his jersey number to commemorate his draft position.
Agim’s path in the NFL was riddled with ups and downs, beginning with him being waived by the Broncos in August 2022 before being re-signed to their practice squad the next day. Unfortunately, his stint was short-lived, and he was released by December. Agim was then signed to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad in mid-December and secured a reserve/future contract in January 2023.
Despite being waived by the Colts in August 2023, Agim was again signed to their practice squad. However, he did not secure a future contract after the season ended, rendering him a free agent. After a brief stint with the Houston Texans, Agim found his way back to the Colts’ practice squad in 2024. However, his second stint was brief, and by late September, he was signed to the Tennessee Titans practice squad.
Agim’s story isn’t just about his success as a professional football player—it’s also a tale of personal triumph. Raised in a low-income family in Texarkana, Texas, Agim has braved hunger and even spent a weekend in juvenile detention at the tender age of 14. Despite these early challenges, he persisted in his pursuit of a better life. He used these experiences to fuel his motivation, winning two state shot put championships in high school and earning the affectionate nickname “Sosa” due to his resemblance to rapper Chief Keef. Today, Agim remains an inspiration to many, proving that one’s origins need not dictate their destiny.
