Maurice Alexander

Maurice Alexander is a former American football player primarily known for his dynamic contributions to the National Football League (NFL). Born on February 16, 1991 in St. Louis, Missouri, he grew up nurturing a dream to become a professional football player. Standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing around 220 pounds, Alexander’s physical prowess and innate talent set the stage for his football career.

Alexander attended Eureka High School in Missouri, where he started displaying his knack for football. With consistently impressive performances, he carved a spot for himself in the world of college football, first at Arizona Western College, and then at Utah State University.

In college, Alexander’s skills as a safety led Utah State to notable successes in the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Despite facing criminal charges in 2012 for punching a teammate, he was able to bounce back, returning to Utah State in 2013 to complete his senior year.

In the 2014 NFL Draft, Alexander was selected in the fourth round by the St. Louis Rams, making his dream of playing professional football a reality. His addition bolstered the Rams’ defensive secondary, and he made his NFL debut on September 7, 2014 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Throughout his time with the Rams, Alexander played a vital role as a safety and special teams powerhouse, making a significant impact on the field. During his three seasons with the Rams, he recorded two interceptions, 103 tackles, and a sack. His rigorous and aggressive style of play made him a key figure in the Rams’ defensive lineup.

Unfortunately, Alexander’s time in St. Louis came to an end when he was released by the Rams in 2017. He, however, did not remain unsigned for long, as he was quickly picked up by the Seattle Seahawks.

During his time with the Seahawks, Alexander continued to demonstrate his tenacity on the football field as a reliable safety. However, he was let go by the team prematurely and was claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills in October 2018. This marked yet another relocation for Alexander, who now found himself in the state of New York.

Despite the numerous team changes, Alexander’s athletic prowess continued to shine. He was proactive in the safety role for the Bills during his single season, contributing 9 combined tackles and an interception in the limited action he saw. However, he was released in the offseason of 2019. He briefly signed and played for the Philadelphia Eagles but was eventually released.

Throughout his career, Alexander went through several transitional phases, but his passion and dedication to the sport never wavered. He’s remembered not only for his dynamic football skills but his resilience in overcoming a challenging past and making his life’s dream a reality.
