Austin Bryant

Austin Bryant, a professional American football player born on November 12, 1996, has had an eventful career in sport. The talented defensive end has played for numerous teams over the years and carved a niche for himself with his remarkable ability and defensive acuity.

Raised in Thomasville, Georgia, Austin started his football journey at the Thomas County Central High School. It was there that his prowess on the gridiron shone through, catching the attention of scouts far and wide. Brimming with talent and ambition, Austin made the pivotal decision to commit his collegiate career to Clemson University, becoming part of the lauded Clemson Tigers college football team.

Austin began his collegiate football career in 2015 as a true freshman. That year, he participated in 13 games, managing to record 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks. However, his sophomore year was marred by a foot injury that kept him on the sidelines for the first six games in 2016. Nevertheless, Austin’s resilient spirit saw him returning to the field from injury and recording 12 tackles and 2.5 sacks. His consistent performance on and off the field earned him a starting position for the Clemson Tigers during his junior year in 2017.

The zenith of his career arrived in 2019 when he was drafted into the National Football League (NFL) by the Detroit Lions. Selected in the fourth round and being the 117th pick overall, Austin experienced the ire of an injury on September 2, 2019, and was placed on the injured reserve list. However, Austin resumed practice by the end of October, staged a comeback, and was reactivated to play again in November.

The year 2020 brought new challenges for Austin. He found himself on the active/physically unable to perform list (PUP) at the training camp’s commencement on August 2, 2020. By September 5, he was moved to the reserve/PUP, only to be reactivated so he could rejoin the team’s ranks on November 7, 2020.

On March 23, 2023, Austin’s career saw another progression. He signed a yearlong contract with the prestigious San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately, he couldn’t stay long and was released in September, only to be re-signed to the practice squad. By November, he was released yet again.

On November 21, 2023, Austin’s football journey brought him to the Minnesota Vikings, where he joined their practice squad. Sadly, he wasn’t extended a reserve/future contract and became a free agent at season’s end.

January 16, 2024, saw Austin returning to the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad. Less than a month later, on February 14, 2024, he re-signed with the 49ers but unfortunately found himself again on the injured reserve list by August. A week later, he was released once more.

Austin’s career is characterized by remarkable resilience, and despite numerous setbacks, he continues to strive for football greatness. As a free agent, he stands ready to contribute his exceptional defensive talent to the team fortunate enough to gain his commitment.
