Lil'Jordan Humphrey's Biography

Lil’Jordan Humphrey, born on April 19, 1998, is an American-born professional NFL player specializing as a wide receiver. Currently, he represents the Denver Broncos team but throughout his career, he has played for several renowned teams, marking his presence by his exceptional football skills.

Humphrey was raised in Southlake, Texas, where he attended Carroll Senior High School, a school known for its outstanding athletic programs. It was there that Humphrey’s interest and talent in football began to shine. He took on the roles of both running back and wide receiver for the Dragons, the school’s football team, showcasing his versatility on the field. Recognizing his talent, numerous universities offered him scholarships, including prestigious institutions like Texas, Wisconsin, California, Iowa, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Texas Tech, UCF, and Washington.

Despite the myriad of offers, Humphrey chose to commit to the University of Texas, beginning his college football journey. As a true freshman in 2016, he played in 10 games, recording two receptions for a total of 15 yards. Humphrey’s performance and skills strengthened in his sophomore year in 2017, during which he participated in 12 games, started in six of them, and made 37 receptions amounting to 431 yards along with one touchdown. His junior year brought significant development in his game, registering 86 receptions for 1,176 yards with nine touchdowns. After such a remarkable season, he decided to enter the 2019 NFL draft.

After the draft, the New Orleans Saints recognized Humphrey’s potential and signed him as an undrafted free agent. However, he was waived by the Saints at the end of August but was promptly signed to the practice squad the following day. After less than a month, he was promoted to the active roster. But, after being waived again at the end of October, Humphrey was re-signed to the practice squad, with further promotion at the year’s end.

In September 2020, Humphrey spent a brief period on the injured list but was reinstated to the practice squad before the year’s end. He was elevated intermittently to the active roster for several significant games and even accomplished his first career touchdown reception during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs. By January 18, 2021, he had signed a reserve/futures contract with the Saints.

The 2021 season recorded Humphrey’s remarkable achievements of 13 receptions for 249 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. Although slated to return to the Saints as a restricted free-agent in March 2022, a failed physical examination voided the Saints offer.

On June 16, 2022, Humphrey signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots. After being waived in August, he was promptly signed to the practice squad. Later, he was promoted to the active roster but was soon waived off and re-signed to the practice squad. Despite these setbacks, Humphrey managed to appear in six games and started two in the 2022 season.

Humphrey’s career took another turn when he signed a contract with the Denver Broncos on March 7, 2023. After being released in August, Humphrey found himself in a revolving door of re-signing to the practice squad, promoted to the active roster, and released again. Despite these fluctuations, after an injury to safety Caden Sterns, he was signed to the Broncos active roster. Humphrey faced another release in October yet was re-signed to the practice squad the following day.

As of March 14, 2024, Humphrey continues his professional football journey with the Denver Broncos. He was released once again in August but re-signed to the practice squad the following day. After an injury to Baron Browning in Week 2, Humphrey was promoted back to the active roster once again.
