Adam Prentice

Adam M. Prentice, popularly known for his distinguished career in American professional football, was born on January 16, 1997, in Fresno. As an athlete, he has predominantly played as a fullback and is associated with the New Orleans Saints, a team under the revered National Football League (NFL). On the foundational grounds of Prentice’s career exists a sturdy educational background that he honed at South Carolina and Colorado State through his college football years.

The journey to becoming the acclaimed player he is today started with his birth in Fresno to parents Renae and Gary Prentice. While maturing in his high school years at Clovis High, Fresno, graduating in 2015, Prentice’s exceptional skills started to gain recognition, fetching him numerous accolades. He received the Bnai Brith award from Fresno County, a testament to his outstanding community service, academic excellence, and adeptness in track, wrestling, and football.

Furthering this streak, Prenctice showcased commendable performance in several sporting tournaments. Particularly, his prowess in shot put helped him secure the 5th position in the Valley, while wrestling saw him standing tall as the 2nd best in the state. Not stopping at this, Prentice also exuded incredible defensive skills on the football field, earning him the title of ‘defensive player of the year’ by the Fresno Bee.

However, amidst these victories, Prentice faced a significant blow when he lost his father to cancer in his senior year. He fondly remembers his father as an inspiration that led him throughout his college years, rooting him firmly in dedication, hard work, and resilience. As he initiated his collegiate journey at Colorado State, Prentice began his tenure as a walk-on, redshirting his very first season. Soon, his talent got him nominated as the Rams’ starting fullback, along with a scholarship, although, his initial success was perturbed with a season-ending injury that struck him before the start of his redshirt freshman season.

Nevertheless, once healing from his injury, Prentice earned himself the reputation as Colorado State’s principal fullback for three subsequent seasons. He further moved on to South Carolina as a graduate transfer, where he not only excelled on the athletic field but also showcased his strong educational worth. Bagging the title of Offensive Player of the Match in their historical victory vs Auburn stands as a significant highlight of his tenure at South Carolina. During his South Carolina stint, he simultaneously completed his master’s degree in structural engineering.

Moving forward, Prentice embarked on his professional journey when he was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2021. However, his term with Broncos was short-lived as he was waived on August 31, 2021. This, however, became an opportunity for the New Orleans Saints to sign Prentice off waivers. After a brief waive-off and re-signing to the practice squad in September 2021, he debuted officially on November 25, starting as a fullback with professional precision, making a ten-yard pass reception from Trevor Siemian.

Onward, he made a mark in the Saints’ final roster in 2022 but was waived in October. However, the Saints could not keep him on the bench for long, as they called him back on November 10. A year later, an injury hindered his game, but post-recovery, he was immediately re-signed on November 16, 2023, to the practice squad and was eventually promoted back to the active roster on December 9. This journey characterized by consistent comebacks showcase Prentice’s perseverance, reflecting his unwavering dedication to the sport.
