Brandon Jones

Brandon Jones is a professional football player who has carved out a niche for himself in the National Football League (NFL). Born on December, 19 1997, in Nassau Bay, Texas, Jones currently plays as a Safety for the Miami Dolphins. A multi-talented athlete, he has proven to be a versatile addition to his team, showcasing skills in defense, speed, strength, and agility.

Brandon Jones stands at six feet tall and weighs just about 205 pounds – measurements that may seem modest for an NFL player, but which he has used to his advantage, pairing them with his innate athleticism and extraordinary vision on the field.

Born to parents Bert and Kasandra Jones, Brandon Jones saw first-hand the dedication and resilience it takes to succeed from his father. His father, Bert Jones, was diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer that mostly affects young males with the sickle cell trait. His father’s battle with kidney cancer would inadvertently shape Brandon’s resolve and approach towards life and his football career.

Brandon was a standout football player in high school and played at Nimitz High School in Irving, Texas, where he demonstrated his flair for excelling in multiple sporting events. Despite the keen interest from several colleges far and near, Jones committed to the University of Texas, where he majored in Sport Management.

During his time at the University of Texas, Jones showcased his talent and potential. He featured in all 13 games in his freshman year and made his first start in a Texas Bowl win over Missouri. His breakout season was his senior year, during which he led the team with 86 tackles (64 solos), which ranked seventh in the Big 12. By the time his college career ended, Jones had played 47 games, made 232 tackles, had three interceptions, three sacks, and forced two fumbles.

Upon graduation, Jones declared for the 2020 NFL Draft, where he was picked in the third round by the Miami Dolphins. His professional debut came during the Dolphins’ season opener against the New England Patriots, where he recorded the first tackle of his professional career. In his rookie season, he played in all 16 games, starting in 13, and ended the season with 62 tackles and two sacks, marking a promising start to his NFL career.

Jones carries a relentless work ethic on and off the field, fuelled by his strong family background and the memory of his father, who passed away from cancer when Jones was in high school. He started the BJ Legacy Foundation to honor his father’s memory, bringing awareness, research, informational resources, and funding to support other families affected by Renal Medullary Carcinoma.

Despite his fledgling career in the NFL, Jones’ professional journey in the league is marked by his willingness to take on challenges head-on. His physical play, agility, resilience, and relentless pursuit to improve are clear earmarks that Brandon Jones is a name that will continue to shine in the NFL in the future.
