Kristian Welch, born on May 24, 1998, is a professional American football player known for his commendable skills and exceptional performance as a linebacker for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). His love for the game began at a young age, which carried him through his college years and into his professional career.

Welch got his start in professional football after his streak in college, where he was a remarkable college football player at Iowa. Following the 2020 NFL draft, on May 6, 2020, Welch signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent. Embarking on his professional journey with the Ravens, he faced a few initial setbacks.

After spending a few months with the Ravens, he was released from the final roster on September 5, 2020. But his journey didn’t end there. The following day, he tied himself again to the team, this time joining their practice squad. He faced a brief pause when he was placed on the practice squad’s injured list on September 15. However, his recovery was strong and swift, resulting in his return to the practice squad on October 6, 2020.

Exhibiting his determination, Welch was elevated to the Ravens’ active roster for the sixth and eighth weeks’ games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively, occurring on October 17, 2020, and October 31, 2020. After proving his worth with the active team, he was reverted to the practice squad following each game.

Welch’s consistent resilience led to another opportunity to join the active roster, this time on November 7, 2020. In the following year, on March 10, 2021, the Ravens offered Welch an exclusive-rights free agent tender. Accepting the offer, he sealed the deal on a one-year contract on April 18, 2021. Welch’s ties with the Ravens continued on March 9, 2022, when he was placed under another exclusive-rights free agent tender.

On April 8, 2023, Welch extended his contract with the Ravens. However, his stint with the Ravens came to an end when he was released on August 29, 2023.

Shortly after, on August 31, 2023, Welch found a new home with the Green Bay Packers, joining their practice squad. Ascending from the practice squad, he was promoted to the active roster on September 28, 2023. His contract with the Packers was renewed and extended on March 14, 2024. Despite his consistent performance, he was released on August 27, 2024.

Barely two days later, on August 29, 2024, Welch settled in with yet another NFL team, this time the Denver Broncos. His journey stands testament to his resilience and undying love for football.
