Jordan Stout's Biography

Jordan Connor Stout was welcomed into the world on August 4th, 1998. From a young age, he showcased promising talent that predicted he would eventually take the American football landscape by storm as a professional football punter. Presently, he is making waves as part of the esteemed roster of the Baltimore Ravens, a team representing the National Football League (NFL).

Stout was born and raised in the small town of Honaker in Virginia, where he attended Honaker High School. Here, he made his initial strides in football and firmly established his foundation. He demonstrated impressive prowess, especially as a kicker–a strength that earned him a well-deserved All-State selection three times over. By his senior year, he had remarkably managed to score all nine of his field goal attempts, while averaging an impressive 47 yards per punt. The exceptional display of skill earned him the coveted title of Team MVP for the Tigers.

After high school, Stout proceeded to Virginia Tech to kick off his college football career. Interestingly, he began as a walk-on and consequently redshirted his true freshman season. However, his undeniable skills quickly found a platform for expression. As a redshirt freshman, Stout served as the Hokies’ kickoff specialist, producing an impressive record of 60 touchbacks from 71 kickoff attempts. Shortly after the season ended, he entered the NCAA transfer portal, a turning point in his career.

The next chapter in Stout’s journey saw him commit to a role at Penn State, where he was offered an athletic scholarship. Owing to his status as a non-scholarship player at Virginia Tech, he had the liberty to play immediately at Penn State. He served primarily as the Nittany Lions’ kickoff specialist in his first season with the team, finishing fourth in the FBS with 66 touchbacks. Additionally, he made two of three field goal attempts, one of which involved him blasting a school record 57-yard field goal against Pittsburgh.

As a redshirt junior, Stout’s responsibilities broadened as he transitioned into being Penn State’s punter in addition to handling kick offs. He recorded an average of 41.5 yards per punt, proving his uncanny ability yet again. By the time his redshirt senior season was underway, he was appointed as Penn State’s official kicker. With this, he carved out a place in history as the first player since Chris Bahr in 1975 to handle kickoffs, field goals, and punts for the team.

This season witnessed Stout punt an astonishing 67 times for 3,083 yards with a 46.0-yard average. His superlative performance on the field didn’t go unnoticed or unrewarded. He was not only named as part of the first-team All-Big Ten Conference but also honored as the Eddleman–Fields Punter of the Year. Moreover, he made 16 of 23 field goal attempts and 34 of 36 extra point attempts. Following the end of the season, he announced his decision to enter the 2022 NFL draft.

Stout’s career took another grand leap when he was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round, standing 130th overall, in the 2022 NFL draft. The Ravens identified him as the perfect fit as a new starter following the retirement of long-time punter Sam Koch.

In summary, Jordan Connor Stout’s journey to professional football is a tale of commitment and extraordinary talent mastering a sport loved by millions. Today, he continues to excel on the field. His drive and resilience make him a force to be reckoned with, and his story serves as an inspiring testament to the rewards of dedication and hard work.
