BIOGRAPHY

Al-Quadin Muhammad, a professional American Football defensive end, was born on March 28, 1995. In his burgeoning career, Muhammad has had a rollercoaster ride with a series of ups and downs. Despite this, his defensive skills continue to shine through and attract the attention of various NFL teams.

From an early age, Muhammad’s potential as a dominant defensive end was apparent. Born and raised in Irvington, New Jersey, he was initially a student at Paterson Catholic High School, where he began his foray into organized football. However, following the closure of the school after his freshman year, he transferred to Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, New Jersey. Here, Muhammad honed his skills and emerged as a four-star defensive end, gaining recognition as the no.1 NFL prospect in New Jersey.

In 2013, the University of Miami successfully recruited Muhammad. Despite a solid debut in his freshman year, where he recorded six tackles and two sacks in five games, Muhammad’s college career soon hit a rough patch. After an altercation involving a former roommate, he was handed a season-long suspension that saw him sitting out for the entire 2014 season.

The following year, he hit the ground running, playing in 12 games and ending the season with 54 tackles. However, another setback ensued when he was involved in a luxury rental car scandal that violated NCAA rules. As a result of this incident, Muhammad, along with his teammate Jermaine Grace, were suspended and then dismissed from the football program.

Despite these ups and downs, the New Orleans Saints recognized his potential and selected him in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL draft. Making his debut in Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season against the Minnesota Vikings, Muhammad displayed exceptional talent.

Nevertheless, following the 2017 season, Muhammad moved on from the Saints after being waived. The Indianapolis Colts claimed him off waivers, providing him with another opportunity to demonstrate his abilities. Although initially waived by the Colts later the same season, he was soon re-signed to their practice squad and subsequently promoted to the active roster.

During his time with the Colts, one incident that stands out is his ejection from a game against the Tennessee Titans in the 2020 season. An altercation with offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo during Thursday Night Football saw Muhammad ejected from the game. Regardless of this incident, Muhammad would re-sign with the Colts on April 1, 2021.

Muhammad’s journey then took him to the Chicago Bears in March 2022, signing a two-year contract. Unfortunately, he was released in February 2023. Later in the same year, he returned to the Indianapolis Colts under a one-year contract. However, he was again released and re-signed to their practice squad. His time with the Colts was additionally marred by a six-game suspension without pay due to a violation of the NFL’s policy on Performance Enhancing Drugs.

Though he was not signed to a reserve/future contract after the suspension, Muhammad’s journey did not end there. In August 2024, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys. However, just like the twists and turns on his career path so far, his contract with the Cowboys was short-lived. He was released within a month of his signing.

As of now, Al-Quadin Muhammad is a free agent. His journey is a testament to the ups and downs that NFL careers often encounter. Despite the challenges, his dedication and commitment to the game have never wavered, underscoring his resilience and tenacity. It remains to be seen where Muhammad’s next football home will be, but wherever he ends up, his story is an inspiration to many aspiring footballers.
