Abraham Lucas, affectionately known as “Abe,” was born on October 25, 1998. He has emerged as one of the prominent figures in the landscape of professional American football. Renowned for being the offensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL), Lucas boasts of a distinct reputation that is enriched with his impressive performances and strategic prowess.

Lucas was raised in Everett, Washington, where he first demonstrated his athletic aptitude. It was during his time at Archbishop Murphy High School where he started making waves as a talented athlete. He distinguished himself in basketball, while also showcasing his remarkable talent in football. Serving as an offensive and defensive lineman on the school’s football team, Lucas became a powerful force on the field. His high school team also had Kyler Gordon, who later became famous playing for Chicago Bears.

Highly acclaimed with ratings as a three-star recruit, Lucas’ talent could not be ignored. After being pursued by colleges such as Oregon State and Wyoming, Lucas decided to commit to Washington State. His college journey began with him redshirting his true freshman season. It was not long before Lucas was declared the starting right tackle for the Washington State Cougars.

As his football career started to take off, Lucas set an impressive record of starting all 13 games of the season and earned recognition as the second-team All-Pac-12 Conference player. Not only this, but USA Today also declared him a freshman All-American. Throughout his sophomore year, Lucas continued to surge forward, starting all games as a right tackle. His stellar performance resulted in him again making the second-team All-Pac-12.

Lucas displayed perseverance and determination despite the struggles presented by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even in the shortened 2020 season, Lucas managed to start all four games and was, for the third consecutive time, recognized as a second-team All-Conference player. His exceptional performance did not go unnoticed, and the Associated Press also named him the first-team All-Pac-12.

Even amidst the growing success, Lucas had a critical decision to make. He was weighing the possibility of entering the 2021 NFL draft. However, he chose to return to Washington State for a fifth season. As a redshirt senior, Lucas started 12 games as right tackle and earned another accolade as a first-team All-Pac-12.

Lucas’s talents were put to further test during the draft process. He was recognized as a top overall blocker, particularly in passing games. His staggering 4.92-second 40-yard dash time catapulted him to the higher ranks of his draft class. While at Washington State University, Lucas logged over 2,195 pass-blocking snaps, which led him to earn a stellar 91+ grade from Pro Football Focus for his pass-blocking skill.

Lucas’ journey culminated with the Seattle Seahawks selecting him in the third round, 72nd overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. After signing his rookie contract on May 26, 2022, Lucas wasted no time making his mark. He was named the Seahawks’ starting right tackle as a rookie and started 16 games. Unfortunately, in Week 1 of the 2023 season, Lucas suffered a knee injury which resulted in him being placed on injured reserve. However, his recovery was exceptional, and he was activated off of injured reserve later the same year.

But the following year brought new challenges. On July 18, 2024, Lucas was placed on the active Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Consequently, Lucas had to start the season on reserves.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Lucas is known for his strong Catholic-Christian faith. He displays his beliefs off the field, always acknowledging the role of his faith in his life.
