Joey Blount

Joseph Blount, born on the 16th of November 1998, has carved out a notable career in professional football for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). His journey into the professional realm of football has been filled with highs, lows, triumphs, and challenges along the course of his career, and his never-give-up spirit has been the driving force behind his success.

As an outstanding safety, Blount’s prodigious talent was first recognized at a young age. Hailing from America, he made a name for himself in college football when he played for the Virginia team. Showing immense potential and an unswerving dedication to the sport, Blount worked hard, honing his skills and refining his technique during his college years.

Following his successful stint in college football, the Seattle Seahawks signed him as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2022, in the wake of the 2022 NFL draft. He successfully made the Seahawks’ 53-man roster out of training camp, demonstrating his growth as a player and his readiness for professional football. Unfortunately, Blount took a hasher blow when he was placed on season-ending injured reserve on December 26, following a knee injury during Week 16 against the Kansas City Chiefs. The incident, happening at such a critical phase of his career, was a major setback, but it did not dampen his spirits or his determination to return to the field.

Post-recovery, on August 29, 2023, he was then waived by the Seahawks, marking the end of a fruitful stint. Shortly after, on September 18, 2023, he found a new team to call home – the Arizona Cardinals – signing onto their practice squad. Demonstrating his ability to rise in the face of adversity, Blount was soon promoted to the active roster on October 3 of the same year.

His first season at the Cardinals proved to be a testament to his resilience and his ability to overcome setbacks and adversity. During Week 17 against the Philadelphia Eagles, he made a quintessential game-ending interception against Jalen Hurts, sealing the Cardinals’ 35-31 victory.
