Andy Lee Bio
Andy Lee, born Andrew Paul Lee on August 11, 1982, in Westminster, South Carolina, is a former NFL punter. He attended West-Oak High School and played college football at the University of Pittsburgh. The San Francisco 49ers selected him in the sixth round of the 2004 NFL Draft with the 188th overall pick. Lee measured 6 feet 1 inch and 185 pounds, and he played the punter position throughout his NFL career.
Lee spent the first major portion of his career with San Francisco before later playing for the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals. His NFL career concluded with the Cardinals in 2022; NFL.com lists him among its retired players rather than as a current NFL roster member as of September 13, 2026. He is therefore best described as a retired former player, not a current Arizona Cardinals punter.
Recognized for his powerful leg, directional control and ability to influence field position, Lee earned three Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro honors. His career included prominent seasons with San Francisco and a long later run in Arizona, where he became one of the league's experienced specialists. Lee also remains associated with the 49ers, including an appearance connected with the franchise's 2026 NFL Draft presentation.
