Alton Robinson Bio

Alton Ledell Robinson, born on June 2, 1998, is an American NFL linebacker who has demonstrated exceptional skills in the American professional football scene. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Robinson spent his childhood in Converse, Texas and his passion for sports, especially football, was nurtured from a young age.

Robinson credits his early athletic development to his time at Judson High School, where he was an active participant in the basketball, football and track & field teams. His impressive high school career saw him recording 15 sacks and 20 tackles for loss as a junior, achievements that earned him the first-team All-District 25-6A title.

His natural talent on the playing field attracted offers from various notable institutions, including Alabama, Texas, Michigan, Baylor, and Oklahoma State. However, Robinson committed to play college football for the renowned Texas A&M Aggies after his junior year. His senior year performance remained outstanding, with his record stating 44 tackles, 23 for loss, and 12 sacks, earning him honorable mentions at the All-State and All-Area by the San Antonio Express-News.

Unfortunately, during this high peak in his career, Robinson faced legal accusations of second-degree felony robbery linked to an incident involving an ex-girlfriend’s handbag. These accusations led to the withdrawal of his scholarship offer by Texas A&M. However, the charges were subsequently reclassified as misdemeanors and later absolved, freeing Robinson of all legal constraints.

With his legal issues resolved, Robinson’s next collegiate destination appeared to be Oklahoma State. Yet, he couldn’t secure his position due to the Big 12 Conference’s misconduct policy.

Instead, Robinson kick-started his college career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College where, in one season with the Golden Norsemen, he recorded impressive figures including 67 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 14 sacks, earning him the second-team All-Southwest Junior College Football Conference title.

Following his successful season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Oklahoma State again showed interest in Robinson, but the uncertainty regarding the Big 12’s moral conduct policy kept them from offering a scholarship. Despite committing to transfer to New Mexico State, Robinson de-committed in August and chose to sign with Syracuse.

Robinson soon became a vital part of the defense for the Syracuse Orange, acting as a key starter on the defensive end. His contributions to the team were notable and he excelled in his position from the get-go. As a junior, his remarkable 39 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and 10 sacks made him the second leading performer in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Though his senior year saw a slight decrease in his record, with 46 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and one forced fumble, his efforts were recognized with an honorable mention from the All-ACC.

Turning over to a professional career, Robinson was chosen by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL draft. His professional career kicked off on a high note when he marked his first career sack on Dak Prescott during a game against the Dallas Cowboys, contributing to the Seahawks’ 38-31 win.

His trajectory, unfortunately, hit a speedbump when he suffered a knee injury that caused him to be placed on injured reserve. This impacted his career adversely and led to his release from the Seattle Seahawks on July 25, 2023. Currently, Alton Ledell Robinson is a free agent, having navigated a journey filled with incredible achievements, challenges, and lessons that continue to define his professional football career.
