Quentin Grimes is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on August 5, 2000 in College Station, Texas. Growing up in a military family, Quentin moved to numerous places during his childhood before settling down in The Woodlands, Texas where he attended college preparatory school. During his time there he developed into one of the top players in the state and eventually earned himself a place on the prestigious Mc Donald’s All-American Team. After high school, Quentin chose to further pursue his basketball career by committing to play at Kansas under head coach Bill Self.

During his freshman season at Kansas, Quentin averaged 8.4 points per game and shot 33% from beyond the arc while helping lead Kansas to their 14th consecutive Big 12 Regular Season Championship as well as their first number one seed NCAA Tournament berth since 2012-13. His sophomore season saw him elevate even further both individually and team wise culminating with being named Third-Team All Big 12 after averaging 10 points per game along with 4 rebounds per contest while shooting 37% from three point range which helped propel them back into another NCAA tournament bid as well as appearing in their first Final Four since 2018 where they ultimately lost to Auburn University ending their championship dreams prematurely yet again.

Following two seasons at Kansas, Quentin declared for early entry into 2020 NBA draft where he was selected 20th overall by Houston Rockets making him only third KU Jayhawks alumni taken within lottery picks over past five years joining Frank Mason III (2017) and Josh Jackson (2017). In Summer League leading up draft selection he had shown flashes of brilliance displaying all around offensive skill set including ability shoot off dribble or spot up situations meanwhile showing no fear attacking basket against larger opponents due to combination explosive athleticism and impressive body control when maneuvering through traffic en route hoop; thus it came no surprise that Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic compared him favorably upon meeting person stating β€œHe’s good kid who can really ball out there!”
