Draymond Jamal Green is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 4th, 1990, Draymond was raised in a sports loving family. His father Maurice Sr., played college football and his mother Mary Babers-Green competed in track and field at Michigan State University.
After attending high school at Saginaw High School and earning many accolades as a student athlete, such as being named to Parade Magazine’s All-American team in 2008 and McDonald’s All-American Team, he chose to attend Michigan State University where he played under head coach Tom Izzo from 2008 – 2012. During his four year collegiate career he earned numerous honors including: Big Ten Player of the Year (2012), NABC Defensive Player of the Year (2012) & First Team All-Big Ten Selection three times (2010–12). At MSU he was also part of two Final Four appearances as well as one National Championship runner up finish during his senior season.
On June 28th 2012 Draymond was selected by the Golden State Warriors with their 35th overall pick during that year’s NBA draft. In only his second season with GSW, Green enjoyed great success while playing alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson they dubbed “The Splash Brothers” leading them to reach their first ever NBA Finals appearance since 1975 winning their first championship since 1947. On June 19th 2015 history was made when GSW won their fourth game against Cleveland Cavaliers capturing back-to-back championships giving Green his 2nd ring with them & third overall title counting college accomplishments making him one of few players ever who have earned both titles simultaneously. During this period it become apparent that Draymond had found himself becoming an invaluable piece on GSW roster due to unique style of play which can be described as versatile mix between point guard & power forward position resulting into earning him spot within starting five lineup for majority games over next few years creating what we now know today “Death Lineup” .
