Jerome Robinson

Jerome Robinson is a professional American basketball player who was born on February 22, 1997. A dedicated athlete with impressive talents, Robinson is currently playing for the Golden State Warriors, a team belonging to the National Basketball Association (NBA).

His basketball journey began at Boston College where he played for the Boston College Eagles. After three solid years, marked by an impressive uptick in average points per game from 11.7 as a freshman to 20.7 as a junior, Robinson, who also had mystifying knack for rebounds and assists, declared for the 2018 NBA Draft.

Robinson’s journey to the NBA didn’t follow the typical narrative. As a high school student at Needham B. Broughton High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, his potential was overlooked. Without a ranking or a slew of offers from Power-5 programs, Robinson might’ve slipped through the cracks of college basketball recruitment. However, Scott Spinelli, the Boston College assistant coach known for discovering unheralded talents, recognized his potential and extended an offer.

Robinson’s college career was marked by an upward trajectory that reflected his determination and skills. As a freshman, he made an appreciable impact with an average of 11.7 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game for the 2015-16 season. Mirroring his relentless nature, his sophomoric year performance amplified further as he averaged 18.7 points, 4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.

However, Robinson truly hit his stride during the 2016-17 season, his junior year. During this period, his stats witnessed a remarkable surge with an average of 20.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. This exceptional performance earned him a place in the All ACC First Team, and he became a strong contender with 14 ACC Player of the Year votes. He was also lauded with an Associated Press honorable mention All-American title. In an unforgettable match against Notre Dame on February 6, Robinson scored an incredible career-high 46 points, unfortunately in a loss.

Post the collegiate season, Robinson declared for the 2018 NBA draft. Initially reserving his collegiate eligibility by not taking an agent, he later committed fully to the professional route by hiring an agent with CAA sports on April 28, 2018. With this decision, he made history as the first-ever lottery draft pick from Boston College.

In the 2018 NBA draft held on June 21, Robinson was selected as the thirteenth overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers. While with the Clippers, he garnered a new career-high with 21 points in a victorious match against the Atlanta Hawks on November 17, 2019.

His stint at the Clippers was followed by a transfer to the Washington Wizards in a complex 3-team trade involving the New York Knicks on February 6, 2020. After 38 appearances, Robinson was waived by the Wizards on April 8, 2021.

Subsequently, another opportunity arrived where Robinson was signed by the Santa Cruz Warriors on January 5, 2022. Established NBA team, the Golden State Warriors, then picked him up on September 29, 2023, offering him a two-way contract. Today, Robinson remains an active player for the Golden State Warriors, an affirmation of his skills and the challenging journey he has embarked on from his earliest days in basketball.
