BIOGRAPHY

Katlyn Chookagian is an American mixed martial artist and the current UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion. She first entered the sport in 2013 when she signed with Bellator MMA, where she won three fights before joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Chookagian was born on December 28th, 1988 in Abington PA and grew up in nearby Horsham. She was a standout wrestler at Hatboro-Horsham High School, qualifying for state tournaments twice despite competing against much bigger opponents due to her smaller stature. After high school she attended Kutztown University for two years before transferring to East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania where she graduated with a degree in Business Administration & Marketing.

After college Chookagian began training martial arts full time and entered her first amateur fight just one year later. She then started fighting professionally, signing with Bellator MMA shortly afterward where she went undefeated until signing with UFC in 2016.

In 2017 Chookagian made her UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale against Lauren Murphy and won via Unanimous Decision after three rounds of action packed back-and-forth exchanges between them both. Following this impressive performance Katlyn earned herself four more wins consecutively which earned recognition from fans across the world as well as earning her a title shot against Valentina Shevchenko for the vacant UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship belt at UFC 231 which took place DEC 8th 2018 Toronto Canada; Unfortunately Chokogain lost via Unanimous decision however following this loss Katlyn continued to show resilience by winning 3 consecutive bouts through 2019 culminating into being awarded another shot at Valentina This time coming out victorious via Split Decision at Fight Night 157 Sept 28th Shenzhen China earning not only redemption but also becoming champion on August 29 2020 Once again defending her belt against Joanne Calderwood winning Via Unanimous Decision making it 4 wins consecutively since losing to valentina , An incredible feat truly solidifying katlyns dominance within women’s flyweight division .
