Grant Dawson is a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Featherweight division. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Grant began his combat sports career with wrestling at an early age. In high school he was a three-time State Champion and went on to compete as a collegiate wrestler for the University of Nebraska-Kearney. After graduating college in 2013, Grant made the transition to MMA and has since developed into one of the most exciting up-and-coming fighters on the UFC roster.
Throughout his amateur career, Grant amassed an impressive 11-1 record while competing all over his home state of Missouri. His success earned him a chance to make his pro debut against Donald Williams at RFA 36: Hamilton vs Souza in October 2016. After winning that fight by submission (rear naked choke), Grant quickly rose up through the ranks with victories over top prospects such as Josh Sampo and Darrick Minner en route to claiming both LFA’s featherweight world title (defeating Nate Jennerman via unanimous decision) and King of Cage’s lightweight championship belt (winning via TKO against Austin Tweedy).
In June 2019, Dawson made history when he became just the second person from Kansas City ever signed by UFC after defeating Chas Skelly at Dana White’s Contender Series 14 show. He then stepped into The Octagon for first time just two months later at UFC 241 where he submitted Gabriel Benitez in round 1 by rear naked choke—impressing fans around world along way—and earning Performance Fight Night bonus too! Since then ‘The Terror’ has gone 2–0 inside octagon with wins over Darrick Minner & Leonardo Santos establishing himself as one to watch out for moving forward potential star future champion?
