BIOGRAPHY
Court McGee (born April 15, 1984) is an American professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s middleweight division. A former The Ultimate Fighter 11 winner, McGee is known for his excellent ground-and-pound and submission skills. He holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and trains out of Park City MMA in Utah.
McGee was born and raised in Provo, Utah where he attended Timpview High School. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army and served as a cavalry scout from 2003 to 2007. During his military service, Court deployed to Iraq twice and spent four years on active duty before returning stateside with a Bronze Star Medal of Valor, among other awards.
Upon returning home from service overseas, McGee decided to pursue a career in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). After training with Team Quest at their Oregon facility for six months he moved back home to train at Hammerhead MMA under coaches Shawn Geris and Rob Greening alongside fellow UFC fighters Joe Stevenson & Josh Burkman among others.
In 2009 McGee made his pro debut against Brandon “Killa B” Melendez which ended via arm triangle choke submission win for McGee just 1:17 into round one of the fight. Shortly after this victory Court won two more fights impressively by armbar submission & KO respectively which earned him an invitation to become part of season eleven The Ultimate Fighter reality show under coach Chuck Liddell’s team .
Throughout Season 11 McGee won all three bouts via unanimous decision victories over Jamie Yager , Brad Tavares & Kris McCray respectively earning him “TUF11” championship final bout against Kyle Noke but due to injury forced Noke out of the competition resulting in court being crowned TUF 11 champion without having competed against Noke officially within the octagon . Following his win at TUF 11 finale event Court has gone on fight 8 times inside UFC’s octagon losing 3 fights while winning 5 including 4 finishes via Submission/KO/TKO; plus one majority decision over Nick Ring at UFC 127 Sydney Australia event held on February 26th 2011 becoming first ever fighter coming off “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show series season 11 edition who managed record UFC win outside US soil proving himself truly international world class caliber athlete!
McGee remains very active outside fighting inside cage often being seen attending fan expositions or doing interviews worldwide talking about MMA related topics striving bring awareness sport fans everywhere!. Currently since 2012 also working with Veterans Administration as Veteran program representative helping veterans across US who suffer PTSD using physical activity such yoga , conditioning workouts etc..
