Brian Ortega is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight division. Born on February 21, 1991 in Torrance, California, he was raised by his single mother and two older brothers. Growing up in a rough neighborhood with gang violence nearby, his family encouraged him to focus on martial arts instead of the street life. He attended high school at Redondo Union High School where he played football and wrestled but ultimately chose to pursue a career in MMA after graduating.
Ortega’s professional career began with a win over Casey Dupree via submission at Tachi Palace Fights 8: All or Nothing back in 2010. His success continued throughout 2011 until 2012 when his undefeated streak was broken by Efrain Escudero at The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale event which took place that summer. After this loss, Ortega went on to achieve eight wins before signing with UFC in 2014 where he faced off against Thiago Tavares for his debut fight that December. This victory kickstarted an impressive six-fight winning streak for Ortega as he defeated some of the top names including Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar during this time period as well.
In 2018, Brian got to compete for the Featherweight title against Max Holloway however this match ended up being cancelled due to Holloway having concussion symptoms prior to the fight start date so no belt could be won that night despite it quickly becoming one of the most highly anticipated matches of 2018 among fans around the world. Despite not achieving any championships thus far, Ortega has earned himself quite an impressive reputation within both UFC and mixed martial arts circles alike due to his unique skillset which combines effective striking techniques along with exceptional grappling ability making him one tough opponent across a range of opponents; earning him respect from audiences everywhere! Outside of fighting professionally Brian enjoys playing guitar as well as spending quality time with friends & family members whenever possible during downtime away from training & competing inside octagon walls; something many athletes tend take for granted due too grueling schedule commitments!
Moving forward into 2021 it appears there are big plans for Brian’s career including another attempt at getting hold onto Featherweight championship belt sometime soon if things go according plan allowing plenty more opportunities showcase skill set Octagon along way!
