Zach Allen's Biography

Zachary William-Jacob Allen, widely known as Zach Allen, is an American professional football who was born on August 20, 1997. This robust defensive end player is currently showcasing his prowess with the Denver Broncos, an iconic team in the National Football League (NFL). However, the foundation of Allen’s exhilarating career was laid in his college years at Boston College.

As a freshman in 2015, Allen showcased his immense potential and profound football skills. He took part in all 12 games of the regular season, distinguishing himself primarily as a formidable member of the special teams unit. His participation encompassed 66 plays on special teams and 46 plays as a defensive end. From his very first game against Maine, he made defensively significant contributions and followed it up with effective performance against Howard.

Allen’s progression continued with prominence in 2016, where he played and started against Georgia Tech in Dublin, among the 13 games he participated in. His performance this year was nothing short of remarkable as he recorded 36 tackles, evenly spread out between solo and assisted. Additionally, he had 6.0 sacks during the season, deflected 4 passes, and recovered 2 fumbles, ensuring a secure defense for his team. His career-high performance in the 2016 Quick Lane Bowl was a turning point, contributing significantly to the victory over the Maryland Terrapins.

With the 2017 season arrival, Allen was promoted to a full-time starting defensive end job, where he started in all the 13 games. This year marked a pinnacle in his career. With a deceptive defensive technique, he executed 47 solo tackles and 53 assists, amassing 15.5 tackles for loss. His exceptional performance led him to be named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive lineman of the week following a career-high 14 tackles against Virginia Tech. Furthermore, the Bulger Love Award was conferred to him, a prestigious accolade dedicated to New England’s best offensive and defensive NCAA football players.

Despite the rumors of him potentially declaring for the 2018 NFL draft after his junior season, Allen decided to hone his skills further by returning to school for his senior year. In 2018, he continued his successful run, playing in all 12 regular-season games, and managed to improve his record in sacks to 6.5.

In the 2019 NFL Draft, Allen climbed up to a professional football career, as he was selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the 65th overall pick in the third round. Post training camp, he was immediately saddled with the responsibility of being a starting defensive end. However, his maiden professional journey wasn’t without obstacles as during the first four games, he suffered a neck injury.

For the 2020 season, Allen continued displaying his defensive skills by securing his first career sack against the San Francisco 49ers, ensuring a resonating win. His successful run carried into Week 15 where he again led his team to a win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

In the 2021 season, Allen not only continued as a starting defensive end but also played in 15 games with 14 starts. While showcasing skills like 48 tackles, four sacks, and three fumble recoveries, Allen carried through the momentum of his performance.

On March 15, 2023, Zach Allen signed an astounding contract for a duration of three years with the Denver Broncos. The deal valued at $45.75 million, marked another milestone in his professional journey, promising a future of awe-inspiring plays and breath-taking performances.
