Named Myjai Sanders, this man of imposing stature was born on the midsummer’s day of July 12 1998; the name uttered as /ˈmaɪdʒeɪ/ MY-jay. He is well-known for his outstanding career as an American football defensive end. Although he currently does not have a contract with any team and is seeking a new one, he has previously showcased his talents on the gridiron at both collegiate and professional levels.

Sanders’ journey to stardom truly began in the year he graduated from college when he was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals. This marked a historic moment in his career as the third round of the respected 2022 National Football League (NFL) draft listed his name. However, before he could make his mark in the professional realm, he had to pave his way through onerous college years.

His early life was spent in Jacksonville, Florida where he soaked sunshine and the love for American football. He initially attended William M. Raines High School, but in the pursuit of better opportunities, he transferred to Camden County High School located in Kingsland, Georgia. This momentous shift in his academic life took place right before his junior year. His skills on the football field were already starting to bloom by his senior year.

Sanders was recognized in the Coastal Georgia All-Area team by The Brunswick News, following a sterling performance, recording 39 tackles, three sacks, and seven quarterback hurries. After asserting his dominance at the high school level, Sanders was flooded with offers to play college football. Excelling at the sport, he had to make a stand and identify his path for the future. He eventually committed to the University of Cincinnati, choosing it over notable offers from prestigious institutions such as Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Washington State, and UCF.

In his freshman season, Sanders got to step out onto the field for a total of ten games, recording seven tackles as a substitute. His rising graph continued to sparkle as he entered his sophomore season, where he was bestowed with the position of a starter. Under this title, Sanders nailed 40 tackles that included seven for loss and four sacks.

His junior year was illustrious as it saw him being named a semifinalist for the revered Chuck Bednarik Award. His performance turned heads and fetched him honors, including being titled as the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. This recognition was primarily credited to his sensational display of skills in a match against Memphis where he recorded six tackles along with 1.5 sacks, contributing massively to a 49-10 victory.

Sanders’ professional career saw him being selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2022 NFL draft, marking the beginning of his NFL journey. Unfortunately, his career faced a roadblock, and on August 31, 2023, he was placed on injured reserve. The situation worsened when he was released the following month, on October 17. Sanders’ journey took an unexpected turn when shortly after his release, he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans on October 18, 2023. However, the following year, in April 2024, he was waived yet again and is now seeking new opportunities to reignite his football career.
