David Blough is an American football quarterback currently playing for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He was born in 1995 in Carrollton, Texas and grew up in nearby Cedar Hill. Blough attended Purdue University where he played college football for four years before entering the NFL draft in 2019.

Blough initially committed to play college football at Boise State but changed his mind after meeting with then-Purdue head coach Darrell Hazell during a summer camp prior to high school graduation. Following his commitment to Purdue, Blough went on to become one of the most decorated players ever at Purdue, setting numerous records in passing yards and total offense over a four-year career. He ended his college career as first all-time in passing yards (11,780) and second all-time with a 63 percent completion rate while also becoming just the third player in Big Ten history to throw for more than 11,000 yards and 100 touchdowns over their collegiate career. In addition he set school single season records for completions (340), attempts (571), passing touchdowns (30) and total offense (4362).

In April 2019 Blough entered into the NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent signing with Detroit Lions as their projected back up quarterback behind Matthew Stafford. During training camp Blough impressed many people including head coach Matt Patricia who stated “He’s highly intelligent…he has great accuracy throwing downfield…has good mobility [and] can extend plays when necessary.” On November 10th 2020 Blough made his NFL debut against Washington Redskins coming off the bench late into game ending up leading team on touchdown scoring drive ultimately handing them victory 19–16 making him first rookie quarterback since Kyle Orton do so since 2005 . In week 15 David started again this time against Tampa Bay Buccaneers going 23/37 completing 252 Yards 1 Interception 2 Touchdowns leading team towards 31–24 victory getting praised by teammates afterward . Overall what could be called successful rookie season it came to end after being placed on injured reserve due resume left shoulder injury that had been bothering him throughout year

Currently still part of Detroit Lions organization David looking forward showing next year what he capable doing under center now fully healthy . Off field , aside from Being avid golfer , very involved charity work donating both money time causes such as cancer research heart health awareness education reform among others . With bright future ahead both professionally personally look forward seeing how else David will able inspire those around him upcoming years
