BIOGRAPHY
Michael Dogbe, an American professional football player, was born on May 5, 1996. Currently positioned as a defensive end, Dogbe is a free agent who is recognized for his remarkable style of play and a career history entrenched in American football’s most renowned teams.
Dogbe is an American with a rich African heritage, evidenced by his Nigerian parentage. His journey in football began to gain national attention when he played college football at the distinguished Temple University, a public research university based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His athletic excellence in college football afforded him a remarkable opportunity to enter the professional football leagues.
In 2019, Dogbe’s professional career took a significant turn when he was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL draft at the 249th overall position. Proving his worth, Dogbe played a total of eight games for the Cardinals during his rookie year. He made notable contributions to the team’s defensive line and showed potential for a promising career in professional football.
However, in September 2020, Dogbe experienced a temporary setback when he was waived by the Arizona Cardinals. Swiftly turning the situation around, he was re-signed to the practice squad just a day later. Dogbe’s resilience paid off when he was elevated to the team’s active roster in November during weeks 9, 11, and 12 of the NFL season. He played against heavyweight teams including the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, and New England Patriots. In that same period, he achieved his first career sack against the Seattle Seahawks— a notable feat in his professional career.
In January 2021, Dogbe secured a reserve/futures contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Just over a year later, he inked a one-year contract extension with the Cardinals in March 2022. He played nine games before parting ways with the Cardinals on November 10. He was re-signed to the practice squad and was quickly recouped to the active roster on December 24.
A notable change came in March 2023 when Dogbe became a part of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He agreed on a one-year contract with the Jaguars but was released a few months later, in August 2023.
Shortly after, in September 2023, Dogbe joined the Houston Texans to form part of their active roster. However, Dogbe’s tenure with the Texans was short-lived as he was released within just six days of being signed. In search of a fresh start, on October 31, 2023, he was signed to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad. Unfortunately, his journey with the Vikings also ended prematurely when he was released two weeks later, in mid-November.
Despite these short-lived stints and numerous transitions between teams, Michael Dogbe continues to prove himself on the pitch, exhibiting stellar performance and dedication to his craft, which are characteristics integral to every great player in the NFL history. Known for his resilience and ability to bounce back from setbacks, Dogbe’s story is a testament to the enduring spirit of sportsmanship in professional football.
