Displaying his prowess on the gridiron, Allen received multiple accolity ices during his high school tenure, including the prestigious 2014 “Parade All-American” honors.

After high school, Allen attended Texas A&M University, where he played as the start’s ing quarterback for the football team for two seasons (2014-2015). His talent and athletic ability didn’t go unnoticed. In 2014, Allen appeared in nine games, finishing the season with a triumphant victory over West Virginia in the Liberty Bowl. In 2015, with his top-notch performance, Allen led the team to victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils at NRG Stadium.

In spite of his early successes, his stint at Texas A&M came with trials. By mid-season in 2015, due to some on-field struggles, Allen was benched. Later that year, he announced he would be transferring to the University of Houston, which many consider a pivotal moment in his career. Allen played the 2017 season for the Houston Cougars but decided to forgo his final year of eligibility to declare for the NFL Draft.

In 2018, Allen was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent. His NFL career had a slow start, initially being waived by the Panthers, only to be signed to their practice squad later. In December 2018, Allen was promoted to the active roster and made his first start in week 17 against the New Orleans Saints, securing a win.

In 2019, due to a foot injury of starting quarterback Cam Newton, Allen was promoted to the starting quarterback. During the season, he completed 62% of his passes for 3,322 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.

Despite his successes, Allen again faced career challenges when the 2020 season brought a slew of changes for the Panthers. Newton departed the team, head coach Ron Rivera was fired, and former Saints assistant Joe Brady took up the position of offensive coordinator.

In April 2020, Allen was traded to the Washington Football Team, reuniting him with coach Rivera. He took over as the starting quarterback following Dwayne Haskins Jr.’s benching in October 2020. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a severe ankle injury suffered in a game against the New York Giants.
