Cam Lewis

Cameron Lewis, born on 13th April 1997, is a renowned American professional football corner-back who currently plays for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). His journey into professional football began with Buffalo Bills, who signed Lewis as an undrafted free agent in 2019. However, his football debut traces back to his university years at the University at Buffalo.

During his college years, Lewis courted offers from numerous esteemed colleges, including Toledo and Western Michigan, besides his eventual choice, the University at Buffalo. At the University at Buffalo, from 2015 to 2018, Lewis was part of the Buffalo Bulls football team, marking the onset of his remarkable football career.

Early on in his first year at the University at Buffalo, November 11, 2015, to be precise, Lewis demonstrated his innate talent for the sport. The freshman returned an interception for a 68-yard touchdown during a game against Northern Illinois, establishing himself as a promising prospect. In 2017, albeit injuries restricted him to only seven games, Lewis’s physical and mental resilience showed through his continued commitment to the sport.

The following year, on September 11, 2018, Lewis earned the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Defensive Player of the Week, further fortifying his status in college football. This feat came on the heels of recording two interceptions in a game against Temple. In spite of missing out on significant parts of the year due to a high-ankle sprain, his triumphs were far from limited. Lewis spearheaded the team in interceptions and passes defended. Consequently, he was named to the All-MAC Second-team Defense, adding another feather to his college football accolades.

Upon completion of the 2019 NFL draft, Lewis was snapped up as an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills. Despite facing a temporary setback on August 31, 2019, when he was waived by the Buffalo Bills, Lewis bounced back a day later, securing a spot in the practice squad. The resilient cornerback signed a reserve/future contract with the Bills on January 6, 2020, hinting at potential journeys ahead.

Lewis faced another waiver by the Bills on September 5, 2020, but he quickly rebounded, re-joining the practice squad the following day. Then, on September 12, he proved his mettle as he was promoted to the active roster for the Week 1 game against the New York Jets. Making his NFL debut in that game, Lewis appeared on six special teams plays. Despite getting reverted to the practice squad after the game, his promotion to active roster swiftly followed on September 17.

However, on October 1, Lewis faced another setback, being waived by the team only to be re-signed a day later. Apart from these professional jolts, the 2020 season presented some memorable moments for Lewis. On October 7, he was once again promoted to the active roster, and six days later, he made his first career NFL start against the Tennessee Titans. In his debut, Lewis stopped Derrick Henry, the previous season’s leading rusher, marking the first tackle of his professional career. Lewis would finish the day with seven total tackles. However, on October 31, he was shifted to injured reserve.

A year later, on August 31, 2021, Lewis was again waived by the Bills only to re-join the practice squad the subsequent day. On October 3, 2021, during a game against Houston Texans, Lewis achieved a milestone, forcing his first career fumble. He was signed once more to the active roster on November 11, 2021.

Lewis’s journey with the Buffalo Bills subsequently saw him sign a one-year contract extension on March 13, 2023. The same year, he played all 17 games as a backup nickelback. On March 11, 2024, he furthered his commitment to the team, penning a two-year contract extension with the Bills.
