Kevin Austin Jr.'s Biography

Kevin Austin Jr., born on March 30, 2000, is an admired professional American Football athlete who has built an illustrious career as a wide receiver. He currently plays for the New Orleans Saints, a team proudly represented in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the big leagues, he fortified his skills and competencies at the collegiate level, where he was a key player for Notre Dame.

Hailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Austin relocated to Davie, Florida, during his budding years. It was there that he attended Western High School before later transferring to North Broward Preparatory School after completing his freshman year. His passion for football was evident early on as he continued to showcase improving performances.

Junior year would serve as a turning point for Austin as he successfully caught 41 passes, covering an impressive 1,021 yards and tallying 13 touchdowns. Additionally, he rushed an impressive 454 yards and scored six touchdowns in 46 carries. His senior year wasn’t any less laudable—he successfully caught 35 passes with a coverage of 761 yards, bagging 11 touchdowns along the way.

Given his impressive talent and burgeoning potential, Austin was rated a four-star recruit. He secured an offer to play college football at Notre Dame, a noteworthy achievement considering he had groomed himself alongside offers from other renowned teams like Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, and Florida.

Austin’s freshman year saw him participating in 11 games, catching an outstanding total of 90 yards. However, his sophomore year presented unforeseen challenges as he was suspended for the entire season on undisclosed grounds. Following a short-lived return, misfortune struck when Austin suffered a fractured foot during the junior season’s preseason training camp and subsequently re-injured it in the initial two games. Despite his untimely injury, he managed to score one reception for 18 yards during his limited periods of stable health.

Nonetheless, Austin made up for lost time in his senior year. It was his first complete season as a starter, during which he amazed spectators by catching 48 passes for 888 yards, making seven touchdowns. Following a loss at the 2022 Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma State, he made the milestone decision to declare for the 2022 NFL draft.

Though he wasn’t picked in the draft, Austin signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but his time with the team was short-lived. He was laid off on August 30 and reassigned to the practice squad the following day. But Austin was full of surprises, another of which came on January 23, 2023, when he signed a reserve/future contract. Austin caught his first professional pass against the Lions in their second preseason game, exhibiting his steadfast persistence. However, he was waived again on August 29.

In another surprising turn, Austin signed with the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League (UFL) on January 19, 2024. His time with the Stallions was short-lived as his contract was terminated on July 21, 2024, allowing him to sign with an NFL team.

Austin took advantage of this opportunity by signing a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints on July 22, 2024. Unfortunately, he was let go during roster cuts on August 27, 2024. However, he was quickly re-signed with the practice squad the following day.
