Keshawn Banks's Biography
Keshawn Duvall Banks, a powerful and dedicated force in American football, was born on December 21, 1999, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. An accomplished football linebacker, Banks carved a striking path in American professional football. He currently plays for the esteemed New England Patriots, a revered team of the prestigious National Football League (NFL). His journey to professional football began in verdant pastures of high school games, winding through the collegiate field, and, against all odds, reaching the professional leagues.
In his early years, Banks attended Rio Rancho High School where he demonstrated an all-around athletic spirit, playing football, basketball, and running track. Football, however, became his true calling. A skilled and dependable player, he won three varsity letters while in the high school football team and was instrumental in amassing an undefeated 12-0 season, leading the team to snag the state championship title in the year 2016.
Banks showed immense promise on the field as he skillfully garnered various accolades including all-district, all-metro, all-state honors, and eventually bagged the title of metro defensive player of the year. His high school football career was a sight to behold with a remarkable total of 133 tackles, 18 sacks, eight pass deflections, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. As a senior, he contributed 55 tackles, 10 sacks, and four pass deflections. Banks stood out as a three-star recruit and was eventually approached to play college football for the San Diego State Aztecs.
Marking his foray into college football, Banks graced 12 games as a true freshman at San Diego State University in 2018, positing an impressive seven tackles. His sophomore year yielded even greater rewarding experiences as he assumed starting position and was honored as second-team All-Mountain West Conference (MWC). During his time, he counted 43 tackles, 13.5 tackles-for-loss, and 4.5 sacks under his belt. By 2020, Banks had claimed the title of honorable mention All-MWC.
Banks’ time on the Aztecs only grew more impressive with each passing year. In his final season, 2022, he was recognized as honorable mention all-conference. Still, he made quite a contribution with 40 tackles, 11.5 tackles-for-loss, and 3.5 sacks. By the end of his college career, his tally stood at an extraordinary 137 tackles, and he secured a spot in the record books placing sixth in school history with 42 tackles-for-loss.
In 2023’s NFL draft, Banks was somewhat dismissed until the Green Bay Packers recognized his talent and signed him as an undrafted free agent. He modestly began his professional journey, tackling and exerting pressures in the preseason. Although he missed the final roster cuts and was re-signed to the practice squad, he managed to make his debut in a divisional round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.
In January 2024, Banks secured a reserve/future contract with the Packers. However, he was released later that year in August, sending him temporarily to the Michigan Panthers of the United Football League (UFL) in October. This engagement was short-lived as he was released again, this time to sign with an NFL team.
In the blink of an eye, on October 23, 2024, Banks found his home in the New England Patriots’ practice squad. And so, he stands today, a testament to resilience and unyielding passion, ready to tackle whatever the future throws his way. His story is one of dogged determination, illustrating that even the overlooked can leave a footprint in the sands of their chosen field.
