KaVontae Turpin is a Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and return specialist. As of September 15, 2026, he is active on the Cowboys’ roster, wearing No. 9. Listed at 5-foot-7 and 158 pounds, Turpin attended TCU and entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2022 after a standout season with the New Jersey Generals in the relaunched USFL. Dallas signed him on July 28, 2022.
Turpin’s value comes from rare open-field quickness and versatility. The Cowboys have used him as a receiver, ball carrier and returner, allowing him to create explosive plays in space rather than limiting him to a single offensive role. His first NFL season brought Pro Bowl recognition as a designated return specialist, and Dallas’ official 2026 roster coverage describes him as a three-time Pro Bowl return specialist. The Cowboys gave Turpin a three-year extension in the 2025 offseason that keeps him under contract through 2027.
