Brandon Aubrey's Biography
Born on March 14, 1995, Brandon Aubrey is a remarkable American sportsman with an exceptional gift for multi-sport athletics. He has demonstrated his extraordinary prowess on the field as an efficient placekicker for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). However, his formative years as an athlete were spent mastering football, particularly as a center-back.
Raised in Dallas, Texas, Aubrey’s love for sports and football, in particular, seeded during his youth. This propelled him to join the Dallas Texans Soccer Club, where he played youth soccer and captained the ’95 team from 2008 to 2010. His leadership proved fruitful as the team won multiple accolades, including five State Cup titles, and were crowned the Classic League grand champions in 2009 and 2010, among many other achievements.
With his profuse talent for soccer, Aubrey was recognized to USSDA All-Select Team in 2011-12 and was instrumental in steering them toward winning the U17 Disney Showcase twice.
In the landscape of soccer, Aubrey ventured into high school football, playing his freshman and sophomore years at Plano Senior High School in Texas. Even as a freshman, he earned the Honorable Mention All-District title, followed by the First Team All-District as a sophomore.
Aubrey later took his skills to the University of Notre Dame, where his college soccer career flourished from 2013 to 2016. His last year at the university was marked by several accolades such as being named NSCAA Third Team All-American, NSCAA First Team All-South Region, First Team All-ACC, and NSCAA Academic All-American.
Following his successful stint in college, Aubrey found his way to the Major League Soccer (MLS) when he was drafted by Toronto FC in the first round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. He initially played for Toronto’s Reserve team, and then for Bethlehem Steel FC in the USL, only to wrap it up by the end of the year.
Moving away from football, Aubrey decided to switch fields and try out American football while working as a software engineer, leveraging his degree from Notre Dame. His wife’s belief in his potential triggered this switch. This entailed training with former Mississippi State kicker, Brian Egan, three times a week between 2019 and 2022.
His training culminated in Aubrey getting drafted as a placekicker by the Birmingham Stallions in the 2022 USFL draft. His debut in professional American football in April 2022 was quite eventful, leading his team to victory in the USFL championship. He continued to perform excellently for the Stallions in 2023, with impressive statistics that unmistakably demonstrated his knack for the game.
However, the Stallions terminated his contract in July 2023, making room for him to sign with the Dallas Cowboys – a prestigious opportunity indeed. In his NFL debut, he hit both of his field goal attempts with a long of 38 and made four of his five extra-point attempts.
His endeavor in the NFL only strengthened his reputation as an excellent athlete capable of handling the pressure and delivering results. Aubrey’s exceptional skills were recognized when he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week in a match against the Los Angeles Rams, where he accounted for 11 points, and subsequently, NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October.
On August 17, 2024, in a preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Aubrey made a jaw-dropping 66-yard field goal kick, which, while unofficial, matched the NFL record.
Aubrey’s athletic career in both football and American football saw immense growth and substantial progress over time. His exceptional performance across both sports, marked by numerous victories and titles, proves the extraordinary versatility and talent he possesses as an athlete. Despite the highs and lows of his journey, Aubrey’s love for sports remains unwavered, making him a true embodiment of a multi-sport athlete.
