Despite his impressive college accomplishments, Alec remained an undrafted free agent in 2022. Regardless, the Dallas Cowboys signed him on, acknowledging his potential. Although waived from the team in August the same year, he was signed on to the practice squad just a day later, before being elevated to the active roster in September. In November, Alec faced another career hurdle as he was placed on the practice squad/injured list due to an unfortunate injury.

However, not all was lost. The beginning of 2023 saw some promise when the Cowboys signed him to a reserve/future contract. Despite being waived later in August, Alec kept pushing forward, focusing on the future and not letting setbacks deter him.

In 2024, Alec transitioned from the NFL to the United Football League (UFL), signing with the Memphis Showboats. His spell with the Showboats, however, was short-lived as his contract terminated in August of the same year. He quickly bounced back, signing a contract with the Los Angeles Rams the very same day his contract with the Showboats ended. Unfortunately, his time with the Rams was equally short-lived, and he was waived off on August 25.
