Justin Murray's Biography

Justin Murray was born on April 19, 1993, in the American heartland. His first foray into football took place at Sycamore High School in Cincinnati where he left an indelible mark, setting the Greater Miami Conference shot put record. With the gridiron beckoning, Murray played college football for The University of Cincinnati, demonstrating skills that would catch the eye of The National Football League.

In 2016, a crystallizing moment arose when the Denver Broncos signed him as an undrafted free agent, proving Murray’s worth despite not being picked in the NFL draft. His roller-coaster journey saw him getting waived, but he made it back to the practice squad the following day. He spent the entire season honing his skills, and Denver appreciated his perseverance by offering him a reserve/future contract.

However, as is often the case in sports, uncertainty loomed. He was waived by the Broncos on September 2, 2017, only to be signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their practice squad four days later. His stay there was short-lived, and he was released by the Buccaneers that November.

Finding grounds in New Orleans, Murray was signed to the Saints’ practice squad in December 2017. The Cincinnati Bengals, recognizing his potential, signed him off the Saints’ practice squad later that same month. But life had more ups and downs in store. In September 2018, Murray was waived by the Bengals but was immediately claimed off waivers by the Oakland Raiders.

2019 saw Murray transitioning to Arizona. The Cardinals claimed him off waivers, and he played a key role, starting in 12 games as their right tackle in the season. Testament to his performance, the Cardinals re-signed Murray on a one-year exclusive-rights free agent tender in 2020. His prowess was further acknowledged with a two-year contract extension later that year.

However, in October 2021, he suffered a back injury that forced his placement on injured reserve. The following year, in August 2022, the Cardinals released him. The Buffalo Bills offered him a revitalizing chance, signing him to a one-year contract just a month later.

The journey continued as Murray was released, re-signed to the practice squad, and then signed a reserve/future contract with the Las Vegas Raiders in early 2023. Yet, his time there was brief, and he made his way to the Tennessee Titans later that year. His time with the Titans was also short, marked by releases, returns, and eventual promotion to the active roster.

The saga of Murray’s career took a turn towards Cleveland, with the Browns signing him to their practice squad in November 2023. A couple of months later, he was offered a reserve/future contract and secured his position in their team.

Nevertheless, all stars eventually dim, and Murray decided to step out of the limelight. On April 17, an undisclosed year, he announced his retirement from the NFL. From a high school athlete setting shot put records in Cincinnati to making his mark in the NFL, Justin Murray demonstrated resilience and perseverance in the face of constant change. He navigated the unpredictable fluctuations of professional football, leaving a lasting legacy of determination and resolve.
