Greg Dortch was born on May 29, 1998, and has since dedicated his life to professional football. As an expert wide receiver, Dortch currently plays for the Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League (NFL). Before his journey with the Cardinals began, Dortch showcased his skills on the prime football fields of Wake Forest University and made a name for himself through his dynamic performance.
The genesis of his passion for football can be traced back to his teenage years at Highland Springs High School, Highland Springs, Virginia. After graduation, Dortch committed his college years to Wake Forest University.
He spent the first year of his college tenure in 2016 refining his skills. Keen to prove himself, Dortch, as a redshirt freshman in 2017, outdid his peers and played in eight games where he made 53 receptions, covered a distance of 722 yards, and recorded nine touchdowns. Dortch’s gameplay reached new heights in 2018 when he made 89 receptions, homed 1,078 yards, and scored eight touchdowns earning him the title of an All-American return specialist. Following the successful season, Dortch pursued his long-standing dream of joining the NFL, thereby forgoing his remaining two years of college eligibility.
Despite an impressive college football profile, Dortch went undrafted in the 2019 NFL draft. However, his professional career kick-started when the New York Jets acknowledged his potential and signed him as an undrafted free agent. Shortly after, Dortch was let go by the Jets in September 2019, only to be re-signed to their practice squad.
Dortch’s journey took an interesting turn when the Carolina Panthers signed him from the Jets’ practice squad to their active roster in October 2019. He made his NFL debut against the Tennessee Titans in Week 9, but was waived by the Panthers in November the same year before being re-signed to the practice squad. Dortch made his first professional touchdown during an overtime game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Throughout the season, he continued to deliver strong performance.
