George Kittle is an American professional football tight end for the San Francisco 49ers. Born October 9, 1993, in Madison, Wisconsin, he attended Norman High School in Oklahoma before playing college football at the University of Iowa. Kittle was a communications major and earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition during his college career.
The 49ers selected Kittle in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft with the 146th overall pick. He developed into a featured tight end known for combining receiving ability with physical blocking, speed after the catch and energetic leadership. His professional honors include multiple Pro Bowl selections and first-team All-Pro recognition in 2019 and 2023.
As of September 30, 2026, Kittle remains on the San Francisco roster and is listed as the team’s starting tight end. The 49ers named him one of their captains for the 2026 season, and the club announced a four-year contract extension in 2025 that runs through the 2029 season. He also continues to help lead Tight End University, an offseason development event for players at his position.
